Becoming an unwitting victim of technology is a modern-day epidemic. It’s likely that you know someone who has sustained an injury from using a gadget. The distracting devices are responsible for countless road accidents and many freak accidents too.
Technology is often the common denominator in some of the world’s most obscure accidents – the type of accidents which should be physically impossible. They send a shiver of fear down our spines because they could easily happen to anyone. A terrifying example of this was caught on camera in China after an unassuming woman lost her leg in a horrific incident involving a mobile phone and a faulty elevator. The woman, who remains anonymous, can be seen approaching the lift with a companion, but before either of them can enter the elevator, the door suddenly closes. The woman in front, who had her mobile phone in hand at the time of the incident, is then caught halfway in the lift where her leg becomes wedged in the malfunctioning doors. Before the woman has time to free her leg, the lift quickly ascends three floors, causing her dangling leg to be sliced off in the process. The incident reportedly happened on June 21, 2017, at the Conch Building in Shanghai. However, this is the first time that the shocking footage has been released. No further details have been revealed about the incident and it remains unclear if the woman survived the ordeal. For now, the chilling video says it all… WARNING: Some viewers may find this footage disturbing.
